For me, storytelling is advocacy. Whether it be organ trafficking in Latin America, or a football subculture in Cambodia, I hold the voices of those involved at the heart of every story.

Rather than dealing in soundbites or hot takes, my currency is human experience.

I am handed a warm cup of Angkor beer that is about 50% head. The sweet pungencies of Phnom Penh’s evening perfume lurk in my nostrils—or maybe they are just hooked in my brain. I duck to avoid a sweeping flag displaying a logo of a skull in a soldier’s helmet. Someone taps me on the shoulder, offering out some stickers: ‘Ultras Army,’ ‘Green Brigade,’ ‘We Support Till We Die.’ Then it all got a bit mad.
